Embroidered Anatomy

For years, Alicja has been creating intricately embroidered anatomical artworks - a unique fusion of art and science, where the human body becomes both subject and canvas. To her, anatomy is an inexhaustible source of inspiration. Like a surgeon with a scalpel, she uses her crochet hook to render even the smallest details with precision and care.

Her embroidery is strikingly realistic. Many of her designs are based on original 17th-century anatomical sketches by French and American surgeons. As a passionate student of anatomy, Alicja has built a rich collection of medical atlases and art books from around the world, which continue to inform and inspire her work.

Her art goes far beyond the frame. Her designs have been featured on T-shirts supporting the Foundation for Transplantation, graced the cover of a renowned cardiac surgeon’s publication, and even became the logo of the Cardiac Surgery Department at Banach Hospital in Warsaw.
